Trumpet
This instrument is a c-trumpet of the Lübeck Amrein company. It is silver-plated and has received a modified mouth tube as well as a special tuning slide. Daniel Schmahl uses this instrument mainly for classical modern solo literature as well as for jazz.

Flugelhorn
The flugelhorn of the parisian company Antoine Courtois is provided with a big and wide bell and an especially big borehole. This instrument is made of red brass. Daniel Schmahl uses it mainly for his jazzy arrangements.

Corno da caccia
Daniel Schmahl uses a corno da caccia of the B&M Symphonic company from Geretsried. This instrument is gold-plated and was additionally equipped with special mouth tubes of the Martin Schmidt company from Potsdam. To obtain a more virtuoso way of playing, the 4th valve was transferred to the left-hand side.

Solo B
This trumpet of the Galileo company from Radolfzell, model “Solo B”, is the youngest scion of Daniel’s ‘family of trumpets’. “Originally, I was only looking for a b-trumpet for the jazz. I ended up with a trumpet with which I’m not only playing jazz but also pieces of the belle époque and others.”
